Programming buttons on the Grundig CordEx for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking

It is possible to change the programming of the buttons on the Grundig CordEx. Although most of the buttons and slide switch have functions related to dictation with the Grundig DigtaSoft transcription software package, it is a very simple process to change the programming of these buttons to do one of several things. In fact, it is possible to program different functions to each of the buttons depending upon whether place a single click, double click, or long click. Specific functionallity which can be programmed include the following:

  1. Opening a DSS Application - this allows you to open any program that has a ".dss" file extension
  2. Activation of barcode/RFID - this activates the barcode/RFID reader if connected to your microphone
  3. Open any program: this allows you to open any program on your pc
  4. Program with barcode/RFID
  5. Recording on/off
  6. Hotkey: this allows you to assign a key or key combination to an individual button. Since these can correlate with assigned Dragon "hotkeys", this can allow you to emulate certain dragon function with buttons of the CordEx.

Steps in programming a CordEx Key:

  1. Close Dragon NaturallySpeaking
  2. If not already installed, install the DigtaSoft software, either from the installation disk that came with your product or by downloading from Grundig (go to Grundig Support Site and follow link to "free download DigtaSoft".
  3. Open the AdapterServer from your programs menu. You won't see anything happen, but the program will open and an icon appear in the taskbar.

  4. Right click on the adapter server icon in the taskbar and select "Properties". This will open up the AdapterServer settings panel

  5. Select the radio button next to "HID"

  6. Click in the "Click Action" column to the right of the botton you desire to program and select the type of action you want to program to the selected button
  7. Once selected, right click over the click action selected and choose "settings"

  8. The window that open next depends upon the type of action you have chosen. In the example below, the window corresponding to a "hotkey" function is shown. In this example a hotkey function is choosen and assigned to send an F10 function to the active program when the CordEx F1 button is pushed.

  9. Click OK and then on the AdapterServer window click Apply and OK to exit adapter server.
  10. Similar actions are used to program other buttons, other functions, and double-click/long click functions
