Comments: We consider this an excellent microphone for use with speech recognition software. In addition to the high level of accuracy associated with this microphone, it exhibits excellent external noise rejection (considerably better than it's rival in the wired handheld arena - the Philips SpeechMike). Its real forte is the freedom resulting from its wireless configuration - you have complete freedom to walk and to wander while dictating with this microphone, and yet don't have to wear it. The CordEx is unique in being the only handheld wireless microphone in the market.

Another unique aspect of this microphone is the "dictation buffer" which stores up to a minute of recorded speech if you should walk out of range of the base station. Upon returning within range of the base, the information stored in this buffer will be transmitted and incorporated into the speech recognition program. In our own testing of this buffer, it appears to work flawlessly.

This microphone is bundled with or without transcription software. For the speech recognition user, the software adds nothing to the functioning of this product with Dragon and we recommend the less expensive version without the bundled software. For users employing traditional transcription, the software included with the more expensive package adds a robust transcription creation and editing software program and the ability to easily create files which can be emailed to your transcriptionist.

Both versions of this microphone include required drivers and the Grundig "AdapterServer" software which allows programming of buttons to emulate keyboard functions. This allows you to assign CordEx buttons to Dragon "hotkey" functions (any of the functions on the standard Dragon hotkeys tab).

The only significant deficiency of this product in our opinion is the lack of a trackball or stick to emulate mouse function. This not withstanding, we consider this an excellent microphone for use with speech recognition software and unique in both being wireless and having a dictation buffer.
