Optional Modification for the Sennheiser ME3

Although we have never noticed a difference by making this "modification", at least one respected microphone vendor (emicrophones.com) believes that a very quick and easy modification of the microphone element will improve accuracy even further. It is suggested that reverberaton of sound off of adjacent structures in the dictating environment might lead to an undwanted "echo" effect which this modification is said to reduce. We offer this technique for your consideration. For what it's worth the Sennheiser ME3 microphones we use for our personal use are not so modified and we have outstanding accuracy!

The Specialized Tools Required:

The Technique:

1. Carefully remove the foam windscreen from the microphone element

2. Note the small semi-circular slit on the edge of the microphone element

3. Carefully cover this slit with a small piece of transparant tape, cut to size.

4. Carefully replace the foam wind screen, being careful not to tear it.
